Jay Rock has released his first track after the Black Friday mixtape. The song, entitled “Tolerate”, is a poignant turn for Jay, a domestic melodrama that addresses his baby mama and all the stress that she creates. “There’s only so much on your brain that you can tolerate” Jay Rock repeats, touching on all the conflict generated by his ex-girlfriend’s jealousy, envy, and unfounded hatred. The downtempo instrumental, comprised of reversed-synths and drums, adds to the dramatic arc of the story and gives Jay Rock plenty of room to vent his frustrations. With “Tolerate”, Jay Rock further solidifies himself as an artist that can do justice to a wide variety of topics with the same intensity and passion he puts into making music for the streets.
