The West Coast collective known as Black Hippy has sparked a lot of interest among fans and peers alike. Combining the talents of Jay Rock, Kendrick Lamar, Ab-Soul, and Schoolboy Q, the project has quickly become one of the hottest topics in independent hip hop. Speaking to DUBCNN from the Paid Dues festival, the group discussed the origins of the project, and all the factors that separate it from their individual careers. Kendrick Lamar also takes the time to answer a few questions regarding Dr. Dre’s Detox album, which he was confirmed to have worked on. With Black Hippy at the helm, the New West is growing stronger by the day.
