Jay Rock’s “Life’s A Gamble” music video is another visually stunning and poetic display of street life to accompany the release of Follow Me Home. Following in the footsteps of his video for “Just Like Me”, the music video for “Life’s A Gamble” paints a hypnotic picture of the dangerous life of a young black male in Watts, Los Angeles.

The brooding portrayal shows Jay Rock on a delivery run as he starts from his house, shuffling down the stairs in slow motion with a duffle bag in hand. Jay Rock takes the bag to the trunk of his car and proceeds to drive his way through the streets of LA to find his way to where an exchange takes place.

The majority of the video consists of Jay Rock delivering his bars in the car that he drives and on various locations throughout LA. Shot in black and white, the dreamy editing combined with the grim images perfectly complement the mood of the song–a narrative delivered to a somber Rhodes-keyboard riff and unsettling pianos.
