Jul 5 2011

Follow Me Home is an anticipated summer release would be an understatement. The long awaited album from Watts’ finest boasts a long tracklist full of big features, including Lil Wayne and Tech N9ne. HipHopDX.com has picked up on a recent interview that Jay Rock conducted with DubCNN.com regarding the album and his relationship with Kendrick Lamar. Discussing the work that he and Kendrick went through, Jay explains:

“We all grew together, we were together at the time when I was going through my situation with Warner Brothers and everything, he was always with me. He was with me everywhere I went, that’s little bro. I finally broke away from Warner Brothers, got my situation right and I told [Kendrick Lamar], ‘Go! It’s your turn, do your stuff. Let the people know who Kendrick Lamar is!’ Look at him now. He’s one of the hottest young artists out here in L.A. right now as we speak. Dr. Dre hollered at him and wanted to work.”

With Jay Rock and Kendrick now standing tall on the independent scene, Top Dawg Entertainment and Strange Music continue to be at the forefront of the music business. Fans can expect a West Coast classic when Follow Me Home finally drops on July 26.
