Hostile Takeover 2012 – Strange Openers: Poughkeepsie, New York with EXT [Interview]

Jun 6 2012

With 97 stops pegged, the tour needs the best possible opening acts to capture the energy of the audience and keep the momentum going – a daunting task to some, but also a rite of passage. Strange Music caught up with some of the upcoming opening acts on the Hostile Takeover 2012 Tour, here is what they had to say.

Opening up for the 6/13 show at the Chance Theater in Poughkeepsie, New York is EXT.

Tell us a little bit about yourself – how long you’ve been in the game, your inspirations, and your aspirations.

I go by Aaron “Diablo” Verdile, I’ve been running Extreme Terror Entertainment (EXT) since 2002. The Fallen Son, member of the East Coast Pyratz & part of the legendary PKNY group Eulogy (along with Headcase – R.I.P. & DJ Sky), was the first artist signed to EXT 10 years ago. CrymeRate, consisting of Xtra Large and Keys repping the Black Plague, played their first show with us in August 2008. Tosha Lynn – The Diva of Darkness, first graced the stage for EXT in October 2010 and quickly earned her acceptance as the newest EXT member with her unique style & mesmerizing live performance. Since then, we have united forces and have been spreading the word of the underground all over the North East as a family. In the last few years, EXT have played with (hed)p.e. Twiztid, Hopsin, Apathy, Pall Wall & others. Playing with Strange Music and Tech N9ne this June is by far the biggest move we have made as a label to date. We all appreciate the opportunity to let us do a show with you and hope there is more work with Strange Music in the future.

How does it feel to be part of a legendary, world-record setting hip-hop tour?

This is a dream come true to me and all of my artists. We have been following Tech N9ne’s tours for years, traveling from Philadelphia to Connecticut to Massachusetts, checking out the shows and handing out thousands of free mix-tapes to spread our music to Technicians everywhere. Bringing the ‘Hostile Takeover Tour’ to our home city of Poughkeepsie is a huge move and we are proud to be a part of it.

How long have you been down with Strange Music?

Personally, I have been listening to Strange Music since 2007; I was actually introduced to Tech N9ne through Aaron “Headcase” Plain, the fallen soldier from Eulogy (RIP). He was listening to Tech N9ne since the Anghellic days. The Fallen Son, Cryme Rate and Tosha Lynn have all been big Strange Music fans for years now.

What can the Technicians expect out of your show?

My label always puts on a high-energy show which is bound to get the crowd moving and ready to party it up for the rest of Strange Music and the Hostile Takeover Tour. The Chance Theater is an awesome venue with a long history of great artists performing there. They are celebrating the 100th birthday this July. I’ve been going there for almost 15 years and throwing shows there for the last six years with my label. The venue is very personable and the pit area will be insane at this show and watching the show from the balcony gives you a sick view of the stage. The sound system is top notch and the staff there is extremely friendly. I’m working on getting the venue to make gallons of Caribou Lou’s to serve the thirsty Strange fans!

Anything you would like to say to the Technicians coming out to the show?

Come out to PKNY on June 13th as history is made – Record setting tour and Tech N9ne’s first time in Poughkeepsie, New York! Extreme Terror Entertainment will prove that the underground is alive and fresh in NY. Make sure to hit up the EXT merch table and pick up some FREE music from our label. In the meantime, check out Tosha Lynn, The Fallen Son & Cryme Rate’s music before the show. EXT Bleed 4 It 2012. It Goes Up!
