2012: A Strange Year In Review – Collab Hints [Social]

Dec 26 2012

2012 was a HUGE year for everyone on Strange Music, and while we saw releases from damn near everyone, we also saw some potential collaborations in the works that the world has yet to see.

We thought we’d take a second to revisit some of the most exciting possible collaborations of 2012, and who knows, maybe 2013 will be the year we see some of these come to fruition!

Note: Not all of these collaborations have been cemented yet, so don’t start quoting us on these, but they are some pretty exciting prospects!

Who: Tech N9ne and Twista

PROOF

Why we’re hyped: Ok, so we’ve already heard a few collaborations from these two, but in no way does that mean we aren’t MAD hyped about the prospect of another! Two elite emcees collaborating is always a good thing, like peanut butter and chocolate.

Who: Tech N9ne and Snow Tha Product

PROOF

Why we’re hyped: Well, we already got a DOPE collaboration from Snow and Krizz, but while the Woke queen was in town for this year’s Gift of Rap concert, hints were dropped about a collab between her and the K.O.D. himself! This could be nothing but incredibly dope.

Who: Tech N9ne and Chimaira

PROOF

Why we’re hyped: Chimaira frontman Mark Hunter reached out to Tech saying he would be “honored to collaborate.” Tech N9ne is no stranger to metal collaborations, so we may just see this collaboration in the near future! How could Tech N9ne over some metal NOT sound amazing?

Who: Tech N9ne and Freeway

PROOF

Why we’re hyped: What’s not to be excited about? This potential collab is seemingly all thanks to this dude on Twitter who just reached out to two of his favorite emcees. See, Twitter is good for more than talking shit and sharing pictures of meals.

Who: Rittz and Mike Posner

PROOF

Why we’re hyped: While kickin’ it out west for a Famous Stars & Straps X Black Fly Sunglasses launch party, Rittz tweeted a picture of himself with Mike Posner. Posner has some major chops, and with Rittz’s Strange debut in the works, we may see this collaboration sooner rather than later.

Who: Tech N9ne and Xzibit

PROOF

Why we’re hyped: A while back we had X to the Z on our podcast, where he stated he would love to work with the KC King, and even said he’d be down for a collaborative tour! Please Xzibit, pimp our ears.

Who: ¡MAYDAY!, Jarren Benton, and WillPower

PROOF

Why we’re hyped: This collaboration manifested at the tail end of the year, and not many details were given other than a couple pictures of Jarren and Will with the crew & a few cryptic tweets. The Funk Volume emcee has definitely built up some buzz around his name this year, and WillPower has made a BANGIN’ beat for damn near every Hip Hop artist you probably listened to this year. Let’s just say this could be a good one.

Who: ¡MAYDAY!/Tech N9ne/N.O.R.E.

PROOF

Why we’re hyped: Back in August, Wrekonize tweeted that the ¡MAYDAY! crew was shooting a video with Tech N9ne and Noreaga….WHAT?? N.O.R.E. has yet to release the project that this video was supposed to be for, so we’re pretty confident that we’ll get to see the fruits of this labor in the year to come.

Who: Krizz Kaliko, Tech N9ne, and Big K.R.I.T.

PROOF

Why we’re hyped: While up north for the Canadian tour earlier this year, this photo surfaced on Krizz’s Twitter along with some hints about a collaboration between the two. We don’t know about y’all, but nothing would make our ears happier than Tech and Krizz on a K.R.I.T. produced banger with a verse from the up and coming southern spitter.

Who: ¡MAYDAY! and Kardinal Offishall

PROOF

Why we’re hyped: Back in September, Plex Luthor tweeted that Kardinal had just “murdered some bars for us!”, and we’ve yet to see the finished product. ¡MAYDAY! is well known for thinking outside the box when it comes to musical ventures, and we have no doubts that this collab will push some envelopes as well as nod some heads.
