(Los Angeles, CA) Tech N9ne’s Something Else enters the charts today at the No. 2 rap album in the country. It sold 58,324 copies its first week, also making it the No. 3 Independent Album in the country and the No. 4 album overall on Billboard’s Top 200 chart, behind only Robin Thicke, Five Finger Death Punch and Jay-Z.

In addition to its commercial success, Something Else is one of the most critically acclaimed albums of Tech N9ne’s career. ArtistDirect.com gave it five out of five stars, raving that Something Else is “one of the year’s best albums and a landmark for himself and the genre.” HipHopDX.com gave the album four out of five stars, saying that “it’s an incredible album,” one where Tech N9ne “took big risks that will pay off, as Something Else will surely be a contender for album of the year.” “Big and bold the whole way through and with nary a stumble, Something Else is another triumph from Tech,” is how AllMusic.com describes the project in its review, which netted four out of five stars.

Something Else features Tech N9ne collaborating with a diverse roster of music superstars, including The Doors, Kendrick Lamar, Serj Tankian, CeeLo Green and Wiz Khalifa, and infusing a variety of sounds and styles, from rock to hardcore rap, leading USA Today to say that the album uses “a variety of flows and electric beats” and that Tech N9ne harnesses a prodigious guest list…to create something unconventional.” USA Today gave Something Else three-and-a-half out of four stars.

As Something Else rides high on the charts and critic’s lists, Tech N9ne is preparing to embark upon the “Something Else Canadian Tour 2013” and the “Something Else Tour 2013,” which traverses the United States. The 15-date Canadian leg features Tech N9ne’s Strange Music labelmate Krizz Kaliko and kicks off August 15 at the Rockpile Bar & Club in Toronto, Ontario. It wraps August 31 at Evergreen Hall in Chilliwack, British Columbia.

The 47-city “Something Else Tour 2013” launches September 5 at Cains Ballroom in Tulsa, Oklahoma and features Tech’s Strange Music labelmates Krizz Kaliko, ¡Mayday!, Stevie Stone, Prozak and Ces Cru.
