MURS has himself a full schedule this summer, performing at Soundset with 9th Wonder this weekend, then heading off on his Unlimited Up tour with Humble Beast‘s own, Propaganda. Luckily, Independent Grind was able to catch up with MURS before he begins his journey.

In the interview, MURS elaborates on his history at Soundset, telling stories of meeting up with Tyler, The Creator and Earl Sweatshirt, as well as bringing his son to the shows – allowing him to meet some of his favorites. Aside from Soundset, MURS talks about his work with 9th Wonder, his Twitch channel, and his work with Music First Coalition. For those unfamiliar with Music First Coalition, MURS explains:

“It’s about approaching people to be more fair. A lot of senators voting on this bill were wanting to hear from people in the African American community and hip hop community. We went in and told them, “Performers deserve to get paid”. It was just trying to get a fair play for both the performers and the radio.”
