Could un-conditional loyalty hurt an artist??

Trtn its about that time again. I feel like ranting because I'm bored as fuck and honestly I like cyber attention every now and then. It makes me feel important. So I must ask a couple of questions .
#1.Can loyal fans become so devoted to thier favorite artists that they stop being critical towards their work?

#2.Can that same un-honest judgment from loyal, loving fans hurt the growth and motivation of an artist when it comes to the quality of thier work???I think it can. A simple example would be a child attending school who seems to pass every single course at the top of his a little too easy. At a certain point someone will notice and wonder if the kid needs to be in a more challenging . Then the kid is tested and placed in the correct es in an attempt to get the aspiring scholar to take advantage of thier full potential in order to excel in life. In other words ,the young child is pushed and tested untill the he is ready for fight night so to speak. What happens if there isnt anyone to test and push this child. Will he get as far in easy relaxed environment???Or would the child had been better off in superior academic setting???Fact is we do not know.So if an artist only gets praise and adoration from his or her fans even when it isnt honest all the time where does an artist get his or her motivation to get better at what they do?? .Or does the artist grow content with themselves over the years never really reachin their full potential???Could thier work turn from "great" to "masterpiece" with a bunch of "yes men" telling them that their shit smells wonderful???

Good point, and very well said. I agree, every artist needs a little negative feedback sometimes. Even the great ones.

    Yes and Yes.

Elvis, Michale Jackson and ICP apply to this. That's just right off my head.

i agree to an extent but I feel like the haters give enough bad comments to an artist. The fans are supposed to love change of there artist.
There will always be haters to say the negative

With Tech, he hasn't made a bad record IMO in his career. He's a perfectionist and I don't think he'll quit being a perfectionist when (not if) he blows up, cuz he won't want to lose any fans, he'll want to keep making beautiful music and gaining fans.

this discussion wasnt directed towards tech or any one artist for that matter,i think it could apply to everyone in the business

I'm agreeing with what people are sayin. Yeah, an artist has those fans that are like...OMG ALL YOUR MUSIC IS AMAZING, YOU DON'T HAVE ONE BAD SONG!!!!!!! Then, an artist has the....Man all that dudes music sucks. I can't believe he has a record deal, or, I can't believe he has as much money as he does cause he doesn't deserve it...I do think every artist has a between though. I see myself as a between person. I want to use Wayne, cause he's such an easy person to use as an example. I don't love Wayne like a lotta people do..but also, I don't hate him either. Some songs I can stand, others I can't even listen to the verse bar. Same goes for Tech though. Maybe not to the extent I can't listen to the first bar, but there are songs of his where if it comes up I press skip cause I'm not exactly feelin it as much as the others. Honestly though, I don't think any artist has that big of head to where just cause lot of people are saying they love them...they're gonna make shit music cause of that fact....Oh wait I lied. There already is someone doin that.
