    Ok you fuckin basterds!!!

I have a question for all of you beautiful and perfect human beings.Where does hiphop go from here???The reason Im asking this question is because of what I witnessed on 2009.The thing that caught my attention were the types of releases that we were all blessed with. There were a couple of mainstream acts who dropped some quality albums like Eminem,Jay-z and kid cudi. Then we got top shelf releases from indie artists like Tech,Brother Ali, Slaughterhouse,Fashawn,Skysoo,Sha stimuli,Cunninlynguists, Raekwon,Royce da 5'9', Joe budden and La coka nostra.Did you notice a difference between the number of mainstream acts compared to the indie artists? What the fuck is going on???Not to mention that the majority of the indie acts absolutely buried the mainstream acts when it comes sonically superior albums. So I guess its safe to say that hiphop is now at an important crossroads at this point in time.So why does the mainstream have so much trouble releasing consistent quality albums? My guess is the politics and greed of the elite which have become a pop pandemic within the past few years. The "indies" do whatever the fuck they want ,while the majors satisfy thier contract obligations and fetch coffee so to speak. My point is that something has got to give. All these politics and obligations have turned a once social and political balled into a drive up fastfood chain within the mainstream. These rich and greedy record exec's sip thier mocha lattes and stuff thier fat faces with hundred dollar pastries while telling the mainstream public what to listen to without even liking the genre of music that they are marketing. What the fuck kind of shit is that.Someone has got to grab thier attention with an independent backhand across thier well groomed mugs. This is why indie labels like Strange Music are absolutely vital to the endangered life of hiphop. If Tech does get his foot in the door he can hold it open for the rest of the talented and starved artists who were born to rock a mic.Im actually hoping that Strange does shell out the cash in the future and pay for that damn promo on all the major media outlets. All it takes is one voice or one song to move an entire sea of new fans and consumers.Maybe one day we can turn on the radio and hear music with actual substance instead of "wait till you see my dick"!!So what do you all think??Do you think Tech and the rest of Strange have the potential to turn this industry upside down??Do you want Tech to stay underground??Or do you want to see him in the limelight with millions of ppl studying and mimmicking the Strange model???Cause what they are doing right now is fuckin un heard of.Something has got to give ppl.Lemme know what you think.

I think society as a whole is going through a big change with the dawn of the computer age. I think underground/indie will make much larger of an impact. I just don't know if the general public wants stuff with substance. I think the geneal population needs to adjust their attitudes in order for indepenent acts even outside of music to take hold. We could start by making the conversations alittle less dumbed down on the forum here. haha... i like to joke and shoot the shit, but more deep conversations are appreciated as well.

Good point. Although I think one of the reasons the mainstream fans are the way they are is because they havent been exposed to much of anything else. And if they have been, then its only been a very little amount. They have been bombarded with only one type of menu for the past 10 years.Take some of the ppl on this site for example.Alot of fans on this site are only limited subnoize, phychopathic and strange. But when they hear something new and dope a lot of the times i read comments like "whoa who is this dude?"If the public can be constantly exposed to what type of talent is out there I think we will see more ppl responding like this causing an undenyable hunger for more music with truth and substance.Which is why I think Strange Music along with other labels like Rhymesayers are on the brink of creating a rap revolution that will change the way ppl hear music from here on out.

I personally don't want any of the indie artists to go into the limelight and turn cookie cutter. The music industry now will just use them and abuse them. There are no real 'ic' groups in any genre any more because it's all a 'what have you done for me lately' time business now. There are no Run DMC's or Rolling Stones or Pink Floyds anymore because if they don't come out with a radio friendly hit on their first album then we don't give them a chance Of course a few artists that don't seem to ever go away but look at people like eminem, 50 cent, little wayne. They keep having to change their images and come up with gimmicks to keep fresh in the memories of todays 5 minute attention span music listeners and that in my eyes also changes the quality of music being put out.

I see your point but what Im sayin is that if there is indie label that is as successful as a major then that indie lable might be able to cop major advertising and radio play with out the influence of one of those yuppie anr's who say what is hot and what isnt.Without someone telling an indie label what to do produce(unlike the majors) the aritstic integrity and quality will not be sacrificed. But money talks so I dont see this happening unless someone from the indies put up some major loot.
