Love songs may not be something you’d expect to hear on Coathanga Strangla, but “Sooner Or Later” finds Lynch trapped in a frustrating and confusing relationship. The unusually soft production gives Lynch room to speak straight to the listener over somber piano notes that layer the otherwise frightening tale of a killer hiding a secret. Lynch’s candid moments give the impression of a man struggling to balance himself through the different avenues of life. The emotionally driven hook lends the track a unique touch that is mostly unheard throughout Lynch’s two albums. Truly a different take on the Coathanga Strangla’s identity, “Sooner Or Later” is absolutely a standout on the sequel.
