Thanksgiving With Tech N9ne [EXCLUSIVE AUDIO]

Nov 25 2010

What’s Thanksgiving like for an elite MC? For a more personal bit, we asked Tech, Kutt, and Krizz some questions centered around the holiday that brings us all together for some good eating. Here’s what Tech had to say.

Editor’s Note: Upon asking Tech what he was the most thankful for in 2010, the answer he gave was more poignant than expected, and we felt it was important to let the fans hear it for themelves. From now on we will attempt to implement more audio clips for our exclusive interviews with Strange Music Artists. Click on the hyperlink below to hear Tech N9ne.

What are you the most thankful for in 2010?
What Tech is thankful for in 2010

What are some of the traditions you and your family have for thanksgiving?
We eat, we sleep, and we go to the movie. I don’t know how I’m going to go this year. [referring to autograph requests, etc.]

Do you have any traditional foods for Thanksgiving within your family?
Yes. We get smoked turkey…and dressing…macaroni…and cheese…and broccoli-and-cheese casserole–I love it. Candy yams. Cranberry sauce to go with the turkey and dressing–not with the nuts in it though I like the plain cranberry sauce. Then we go to [my wife’s] people’s house. They’re French-Creole so they make dirty rice that’s wonderful. They make Louisiana food. It’s wonderful. I live for that dirty rice because we only have it once a year.

Do you have any memories from a certain Thanksgiving that stand out to you the most?
Yeah but it aint good so I don’t want to talk about it! [laughs]
It was family oriented so…you know what I’m saying? It wasn’t cool.

Is there a certain relative you don’t normally get to see that you look forward to seeing on the holidays?
My children. They’re flying in. Dontez is already here with me. My two girls man, you know what I’m sizzlin’? Rainbow and Aaliyah. I get to laugh for a whole week–they’re the funniest people I’ve ever met.

Who cuts the turkey?
The wife. She cuts it.

Pumpkin pie or sweet potato pie?
I like pumpkin pie.

Cool whip or no?
I mean I can do it but I don’t really have to have it. I’m not really a sweets type of dude. I don’t eat dessert or nothing like that. I don’t munch on candy. Dessert to me is liquor. Every time I eat, whether it’s lunch, dinner, or a late-night snack, I always have me a drink afterwards.
(It’s important to note here that Jim Morrison was quite the drinker. Coincidence?)
