On the last track of Shock Treatment, “Stand By”, Krizz Kaliko ends the album on a somber tone. Rapping and singing over a lush arrangement of Rhodes piano and delayed guitars, Krizz addresses the quest for fame, and the toll that it can take on his psyche as expectations and realities battle out in his head: “You’ll be a star there may be no place that you can’t go” he tells himself before resigning to the fact that he’s been on stand by: waiting for his plane to take-off, waiting for it to land, waiting to see how far it’ll fly. The track is a perfect summation of his trip with fame so far and how it leaves him feeling at the end of the day. With “Stand By” we’re offered a reflective and emotional Krizz Kaliko:, someone who knows how far he’s come but still wonders how far he’ll go.
