With Follow Me Home hitting stores this week, many fans and critics are locking in on Jay Rock’s potential radio single, “Westside”. Fit to be a smash R&B crossover, the track features Chris Brown, who happens to be someone that Jay Rock admires and respects. Speaking to MTV News, Jay explained how the collaboration came to be:

“That’s my dude, I done seen him a couple of times in the streets and holla’d at him. We exchanged numbers and we kept in touch,” Jay said. “He’s a busy dude and he was doin’ a video and I was like, ‘Man I got this record. ‘ He was like, ‘All right man, when I get finished doing this video, I’m going to go to the studio and come through.’ And it was just like that.”

With a smash single just waiting to be unleashed, Jay Rock can understand why Chris Brown has risen to the top of the charts. The two artists may make for an unlikely pair, but one listen to “Westside”, and even the most critical of fans can see why the collaboration was a perfect fit.
