Tha Bizness Rides The ‘Westside’ On ‘Follow Me Home’

Jul 14 2011

With production credits spanning the entire music industry, producers J-Hen and Dow Jones, also known as Tha Bizness, have shaped quite a prolific career. Coming out of Seattle, the duo knew that they had to work twice as hard as anyone else just to stand out in the city’s small hip hop scene.

Building a reputation individually, the two producers soon blazed their way through the hottest tracks as a team that has contributed to albums like 50 Cent’s Curtis (“Follow My Lead”) and Ice Cube’s I Am The West (Soul on Ice”). With their knack for producing #1 singles, Tha Bizness now joins an all star line up on Jay Rock’s Follow Me Home.

The Grammy-nominated production team may sound familiar to fans thanks in part to their trademark “Tha Bizness” tag that introduces everyone one of their tracks. Favoring heavy and differing percussion, Tha Bizness is responsible for booming production that also hits heavy with horns. The smooth and jazzy vibes can be attributed to J-Hen’s admiration of arists like Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. Once the duo hit the charts, they never left. In recent years, Tha Bizness has produced hits like Young Money’s “Every Girl” and Wiz Khalifa’s “Stuntin”. They have also confirmed work for Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter IV, due out this summer.

For Jay Rock’s Follow Me Home, Tha Bizness lends their suave style to “Westside” featuring Chris Brown. Smashing drums and layered horns adorn this R&B friendly jam with piano notes striking over the hook. The big sound manages to fit in so elegantly, and without a doubt, “Westside” will pop out at listeners as one of the big radio hits on Follow Me Home. Tha Bizness hits another winner with “Westside”, and gives the ladies a reason to ride out.
