Thanks to a huge radio single in “All My Life” featuring Lil Wayne, Jay Rock’s career took off in 2010. Powered by Top Dawg Entertainment and a big buzz from the hip hop community, Jay managed to catch the attention of MTV when they included him in their “Hottest Breakthrough MCs Of 2010”. In this exclusive MTV News clip, Jay recalls how he was taken away from the streets by a friend who encouraged him to explore his music and turn it into a career. As it would turn out, MTV was pretty dead on with their prediction because Jay would go on to become one of the top MCs of the New West, and now with Strange Music, is about to release one of the hottest albums this summer. It may not be 2010, but Jay certainly is not done breaking through.
