Brotha Lynch Hung Kicks It Old School [Photo]

May 24 2012

This, ladies and gentlemen, is what one might refer to as “swagger”.

As many of you may know, we get a lot of emails at Strange Music from fans all over the place.

But not often do we get emails from an old friend of an artist on the label with a glimpse back in the yearbook.

Here’s an interview with Stefan O’Connor who hit us up with this legendary old-school photo of Brotha Lynch Hung (left).

What’s your name and what do you do?

My name is Stefan O’Connor, aka DJ White Knight, and a former member of the Royal Mixxers and Rapping Crew. I’m self-employed and still play in the music industry.

How did you know Brotha Lynch Hung?

I met Kevin with Max way back in the mid 80’s. They signed with our record company and were part of Shade’s Productions at the time.

What’s the story behind this photo?

I’m a fairly creative person and along with my love for music and hip-hop I also do photography. So, somehow (LOL) I ended up shooting pictures in the middle of the night on Stockton Blvd and Florin Rd and in some back alleys. Good shoot!

What do you think of Lynch as an artist and as a person?

As an artist, Brotha Lynch is amazing. When I first heard Kevin (and Max) rap back in the 80’s, I was floored by how fast they rapped. Their flow and skill killed BoneThugs on speed and delivery even back then. I ain’t gonna lie, when I first heard Brotha Lynch and his horror-core releases I was like, “what the fuck?!” I’m used to it now and understand his niche. He’s very talented, no doubt, and I’m sure there is much more to come.

How happy are you to see him succeed and be signed to Strange Music?

Very happy for his popularity, and I look forward to how Strange Music will contribute to his success and bring him to the next level.

Anything you’d like to say to the Lynch fans out there?

BLH Fans… stay tuned you ain’t seen shit yet!
