During his time performing at the 2009 Rock The Bells hip hop festival, Krizz Kaliko was featured in an interview by Jabari of IAmJabari.com, an online-television show dedicated to hip hop. Krizz Kaliko explains his musical background: his mom raised him in the church choir but also took him to concerts where he formed an admiration for performers of all types. As a youth he was in talent shows and learned how to rap in order to deflect the verbal beatings he would get at school because of his skin condition, vitiligo. He explains further how he progressed into a working artist and subsequently implemented his own “funkra” style into hip hop with his work on Tech N9ne’s records.
