Official numbers are in and Lil Wayne’s blockbuster, Tha Carter IV, managed to sell 964,000 copies in its first week. Powered by smash hits like “How To Love” and “She Will”, the album broke iTunes sales records set just weeks ago by Jay-Z and Kanye West with Watch The Throne. While Wayne’s success more than deserves its recognition, the real story here is the after effect it has had for Tech N9ne, who appeared on the critically acclaimed “Interlude” with Andre 3000.
Following first week sales of Tha Carter IV, Tech N9ne’s own smash album, All 6’s And 7’s, experienced a resurgence on the Billboard charts. Positioned at #160 on the Billboard Top 200 last week, the album jumped to #142 this week. This indicates an 18 spot jump for All 6’s And 7’s. With nearly one million new listeners discovering Tech N9ne, there is no doubt about the assist from Tha Carter IV. Strangeland may already be on its way to expanding like Tech N9ne predicted.
