Every September, hip hop unites to remember the legendary Tupac Shakur and the influence he left on the world. This year, XXLMag.com revisited a past feature that included some of hip hop’s biggest stars sharing their stories about Tupac and the impact he left behind.
Among names like Tyga, J. Cole, Will.i.am, and Yelawolf, Tech N9ne also shared his thoughts on Tupac Shakur and recalled the first time he met the West Coast icon:
I met him in 1992, at the Jack the Rapper convention in Atlanta. [He was a] cool cat. [He was] real loud. He was drinkin’. I remember him saying—he didn’t say it to me, but I took it when I heard it—you gotta make songs for the chicks. The chicks gon’ buy the albums, and the dudes gotta have the albums to play the chicks when they come over, to keep them cool.
The full feature was first published in the September 2011 issue of XXL, but can now be read in its entirety online.
