What’s better than pizza, beer, and arcade games? Pizza, beer, arcade games, and listening to the brand new CES Cru album!
On Thursday, February 9th, Strange Music fans flocked to Up-Down, located in Kansas City’s Crossroads district, to hang out with CES Cru, play games, and listen to Catastrophic Event Specialists a day before it’s official release. Highlights included Ubi rattling off 12 straight wins in Street Fighter II, an appearance from Tech N9ne and JL, and, of course, getting to hear the brand new CES album blasting throughout the bar. A personal highlight was getting to level five on the Ninja Turtles arcade game — a personal best I can only attribute to “Purge” inspiring me to destroy everything in my path.
Though the bar was filled with longtime CES Cru fans, it was very cool to see people who weren’t there for the party react to the album. From the heads bobbing, to people asking “Yo, who is this?” you could tell Catastrophic Event Specialists left quite the impression on Cru fans old and new.
You can watch the recap below, and if you are in the Kansas City area, be sure to visit Up-Down for all your alcohol, pizza, and arcade related needs.
