Jul 21 2017

If you are reading this, it’s most likely because Tech N9ne has reached out through the speakers and touched your soul.

Obviously, the way he does it–that now world famous chopper style–is impressive, but it’s what he says that, too, leaves an indelible mark on the listener; passionate, talented, but also relateable.

Anybody who has experienced hardships and loss can identify with songs like “Angels In The Playground,”  “The Noose,” or “PTSD” (just to name a few) and just recently we learned the power of that deep connection.

Though, now, a staple of Tech’s approach, it was once something he had to learn. In fact it was Quincy Jones who showed him the light.

In a recent interview with All Def Music, Tech detailed how advice from the hip-hop legend influenced his emotionally-charged approach.

“Quincy Jones said, ‘Rap what you know, Tech and people will forever feel you.’ Thank you for telling me that Quincy Jones in ’97, because I started tapping into emotion and when you tap into emotion you reach all types of people…one thing we all have in common is emotion.”

Be sure to watch the whole interview where Tech talks about “Caribou Lou” going platinum, signing JL, and more!
