Krizz Kaliko Unplugged? [Discussion]

May 29 2011

Recently, MTV made headlines with the announcement that it would re-launch its MTV Unplugged series with a special performance by Lil Wayne. The immensely popular program became a giant success in the 90’s with stripped down acoustic performances by some of the biggest names in music. With no restrictions on genre, Unplugged invited the hip hop element, and featured specials with LL Cool J, Lauryn Hill, Alicia Keys, and Jay-Z. News of Lil Wayne’s Unplugged performance has created major headlines within the hip hop world. Who else in the hip hop world is fit to carry an acoustic performance?

With so many possibilities to explore with a live band, it isn’t a stretch to think that Krizz Kaliko could potentially give a stunning Unplugged performance. Krizz Kaliko’s ability to belt out heavy notes and match the meanest MCs word for word is uncanny. His diversity comes out in spades, and thanks in part to incredible production, his music would lend itself perfectly to the Unplugged atmosphere. The intimate and broken down vibe of Unplugged would allow Kaliko to really showcase his singing, which is really what makes him so unique. Just imagining Kaliko performing a song like “Misunderstood” with a completely acoustic band is enough to justify an entire concert like this. If a songstress like Alicia Keys can pull it off, then surely Krizz Kaliko can conquer the world of Unplugged.
