¡MAYDAY!’s Take Me To Your Leader is quickly spreading word of one of Miami’s best kept secrets. Following their spot on the Tech N9ne’s All 6’s And 7’s Tour, ¡MAYDAY! now looks to cover even more ground on the record-breaking Hostile Takeover 2012 Tour. ¡MAYDAY!’s own Wrekonize recently spoke with XXLMag.com to share his thoughts on the new album what it’s like to hit the road for over 90 shows.
Discussing Take Me To Your Leader, Wrekonize offered up some insight on what fans can expect from the album:
For the people who have already been with us, or got to listen to our last album, it’s definitely a more defined, more cohesive, sound. We slowed down our overall tempo a little bit. We kind of wanted to play around with the slower tempos. It’s definitely got a little more rugged in the hip-hop vibe. We went a little bit grimy in this one. And for the new heads, it’s definitely a perfect combination of live instrumentation and real throwback classic hip-hop production, with basically the inspiration we’ve taken from Tech and everybody at Strange. You can’t really be around all the dudes that rhyme at Strange, and come weak with your bars.
Wrek also went on to speak about the band’s origins and how they planned to keep their grind up on the new tour.
With Take Me To Your Leader still in its first week of sales, ¡MAYDAY! is proving to be a force unlike any other in hip hop.
