Hostile Takeover 2012 – Strange Openers: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with BLONDEGANG [Interview]

Jun 6 2012

With 97 stops pegged, the tour needs the best possible opening acts to capture the energy of the audience and keep the momentum going – a daunting task to some, but also a rite of passage. Strange Music caught up with some of the upcoming opening acts on the Hostile Takeover 2012 Tour, here is what they had to say.

Opening up for the 6/14 show at the Theatre of Living Arts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is BLONDEGANG.

Tell us a little bit about yourself – how long you’ve been in the game, your inspirations, and your aspirations.

BLONDEGANG is a super-group comprised of Bok Nero, Kidd Sweeney, Shy Socialmisfit, Lyve, Plane Walker, and Sikatheart. We do rap, rock, pop, and dubstep with a live band. We’ve been together for a year now. We’ve won the ‘best new group’ award at the Philadelphia hip-hop awards, and we are the biggest independent movement in our city.

We are inspired by creative freedom and the courage to be yourself, and we aspire to be in the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame.

How does it feel to be part of a legendary, world-record setting hip-hop tour?

It is a blessing to get a chance to perform on this tour. Our performance level is high and we are getting a chance to rock with artists of similar energy. It will be a night to remember!

How long have you been down with Strange Music?

We’ve been seeing Tech N9ne ads since 2002 and read about him in the 2006 issue of Murder Dog. Everything Tech is doing – like having the warehouse and doing merch and CDs himself – he lets us know it’s possible. We are independent too, so he is definitely an inspiration for us.

What can the Technicians expect out of your show?

They can expect tons of energy, stage-diving, red hair, blue hair, pink hair, green hair, free BLONDEGANG tees, 127 band, dubstep, rock, hip-hop, pop, we do all music, and we give a great show!

Anything you would like to say to the Technicians coming out to the show?

We greatly appreciate the opportunity and can’t wait to rock on this tour – it will definitely be a Hostile Takeover!
