Cinematic Sounds: 5 Movie Trilogies That Are Just As Epic As The Coathanga Strangla Series

Feb 4 2013

Brotha Lynch Hung - Coathanga Strangla Trilogy

With Mannibalector about to be on the shelves and our ears full of the first two albums, we started thinking about how good this Brotha Lynch Hung trilogy is and how cinematic the albums are. Naturally, our minds started to wonder off into actual film trilogies, and we thought we’d show y’all some of our favorite movie trilogies as a way to get hyped for the upcoming finale to Brotha Lynch Hung’s masterpiece.

Grab your popcorn and pull out your pen and pad as we count down our 5 favorite movie trilogies!

5. The Evil Dead

Evil Dead Trilogy

We had to start off with something horror related, y’all know that! These three cult classics feature the legendary Bruce Campbell as “Ash” fighting off hoardes of evil brought on by the Book of the Dead. If you haven’t seen them, you most definitely should, especially since we hear a remake is on the way.

4. The Matrix

Matrix Trilogy

While the third installment in this trilogy got quite a bit of hate from critics, we feel that the first two were badass enough that it doesn’t even matter. The first Matrix had you freaked the hell out afterwards thinking your cereal spoon was about to bend, which to us is the mark of a great movie. This trilogy had it all in our opinions: awesome effects, an original premise, and Keanu Reeves kung-fu’ing the shit out of bad guys dressed like Wall Street dudes. If you’ve never rolled one up and watched all three of these bad boys in one night, then you’ve also probably never called your best friend at three in the morning to make sure life is real.

3. Lord Of The Rings

Lord Of The Rings Trilogy

Ok, we already know all you Lord Of The Rings fans want to punch us in the face right now because Frodo ‘nem didn’t make the top spot, but just check the full list before you start storming the Strange HQ with wizard staffs and morgul-blades, and remember this is just our opinion! Jokes aside though, this trilogy is pretty badass. Peter Jackson knew how to interpret the long-as-shit books of J.R.R. Tolkien in a way that appealed to full-on nerds and Steven Segal fans alike, something that in our opinion is a pretty hard thing to do. With The Hobbit out, I guess this technically isn’t a trilogy anymore, but fuck it, LOTR is awesome.

2. The Godfather

The Godfather Trilogy

You know we had to put The Godfather trilogy on here! These three are widely considered to be one of the best film series of all time, and we can’t think of a good enough reason to disagree. Francis Ford Coppola directed these three depictions of Mario Puzo’s famous novels following the Corleone crime family, a group of badass Italians that pretty much ran shit. If you like mob dealings and gore, there probably aren’t 3 movies you should see more.

1. Star Wars

Star Wars Trilogy

Yep, we went there. We know the Star Wars story is no longer a trilogy, but we’re talking about the original trilogy. If it doesn’t have Harrison Ford in it, we’re not counting it. Star Wars changed the game as far as movies are concerned, and we feel these movies influenced people the most out of all the trilogies we’ve listed. I’m just saying, I’ve never seen Matrix sneakers before (they’re probably out there somewhere). If you love sci-fi and intergalactic bounty hunting, then these are in fact the movies you’re looking for.

Well, there’s our list for y’all. We’re sure you have different ideas for this list, so feel free to leave them in the comments section below this post. We’re pretty confident that once Mannibalector is out, the Coathanga Strangla saga will be at the top of any list regarding musical trilogies. It will most definitely be at the top of ours.
