If you’re opening for a Tech N9ne show, you better have a ton of energy and know how to rock a crowd right.
With the Something Else Tour 2013 quickly approaching, we talked to seasoned underground performers Spaide R.I.P.P.E.R. and the Zombiie Mobb about what it’s like opening up for Tech, what the N9na means to live hip hop performers, and what we can expect from the upcoming tour!
Read the full interview below:
For those that might not know, who are you guys and where are you from?
Spaide R.I.P.P.E.R. and Zombiie Mobb, and we’re from St. Louis! SAINT LOULOU!
I remember seeing you at the Summer Of Strange Tour, but is this your first time opening for Tech? What does this tour mean to you?
I’ve opened for Strange artists many times before, and of course as a guest performer with my bro Stevie Stone performing “Goin’ Down” off his Rollin Stone album. But as my own separate entity-yes, this will be the first time with my own personal set opening for the King.
This is a statement show for me. It’s at home and it marks my arrival as an artist with enough momentum to be considered opening for the King. That in itself is an accomplishment for me. All the hardcore Strangers and Juggalos from my region I think saw this coming. They know how hard the Zombiies have been working.
Hell yeah. As a performer yourself, how do you see Tech N9ne? What does he mean to live hip hop?
Tech is the absolute best performer in hip hop. He inspires us in every way to be better at what we do!
You said earlier this marks your arrival as an artist with enough momentum to open for Tech N9ne. How would you describe your live show?
We entertain in all aspects. We perform in the tradition of our Strange Music predecessors, meaning high energy, never standing still, rehearsed visual descriptive behavior! We opened up on the “Rollin’ Stone” tour in select cites so if you saw the Zombiies, you know that we specialize in coming out first and kicking up the energy!
Dope! Anything else you’d like to say before you go?
I will be popping up in select cites throughout the U.S. on the Something Else Tour to perform my verse from “The Reason” with Stevie Stone, and of course we gone get the jumper cables out and do “Goin’ Down“, so make sure you on the lookout for me! If I’m not in your city, demand me! Also, please check out SpaideRipper.com.
