Lynch has made it known that he finds it easier to spit unadulterated siccness when he isn’t within the confines of a concept album like Dinner and a Movie. In this context, it’s almost as if a guest verse is a release for him–an opportunity to be as lyrical as he wants to be, fully exhibiting his machine gun flow and staccato delivery to its maximum potential. Here are some of the notable guest spots of Lynch on Strange Music releases since he joined the label.
“Strange Music Box” – Tech N9ne – K.O.D.
Here’s what could be the first instance for Strange Music fans to hear Lynch describing himself as “the Coathanga Strangla” as Lynch dedicates a charming verse to describing the grotesque ways in which he will murder and eat someone. One thing is for sure, it didn’t take long for Lynch to bring the siccness with him to Strange Music.
“Pill Poppin’ Music” – Cognito – Automatic
With fellow Nor-Cal native Cognito, Brotha Lynch Hung drops bars about drug use and once again finds a way to relate his verse to murder and rotting flesh: “I gotta bitch named oxycontin / too much of that shit will leave your body rotten.” Over a frantic beat of spastic synths, Lynch gives us another whiff of the Coathanga Strangla.
“Dark Knights” – Kutt Calhoun – Raw And Un-Kutt
On this track from Kutt Calhoun’s third Strange release, Brotha Lynch Hung lends a memorable, “how-the-hell-did-he-write-that?” kind of hook, catchy yet unpredictable. Lynch drops the last verse, aptly portraying himself as a murderous thief in the night.
“In My Dreams” – Krizz Kaliko – Shock Treatment
This verse has Lynch painting a picture full of surreal imagery and detail as he describes stalking the house of a current or former lover. The self-loathing, stream-of-consciousness rap ends with Lynch in a moment of clarity as he asks himself “what am I thinking?”
